This was an impulse buy, I could not control myself when I saw it, it felt like it was a calling from a higher being. We’ve had many books descend upon us to reach enlightenment, this is one of them, the modern Holy Grail. I sincerely believe that Gucci Mane is probably one of the holiest and most divine figures walking on this planet, yes, I’m talking about the rapper with an ice cream cone tattoo on his face. While it might sound like I’m out of my mind saying this, the book is actually great. I gave passages of the book (without the pictures of Gucci included in almost every other page of the book (which make it all the better)) and blocked out the vulgar language, to my mother; she loved the book so much and thought Gucci Mane was a motivational coach or philosopher. I want you to keep in mind that Gucci Mane is one of the most successful people within his field, his life’s transformation is unmatched, and he came from the very bottom and is currently at the very top. He’s also a reader, throughout the book I recognized lessons taught in other books I’ve read. What I extracted from Gucci’s mentality is this sense of sheer discipline and ambition. If you’ve had a conversation with me in the past few months, you’ll know how big of an impact this book had on me: it actually got me back on track, pushed me to go even higher, and shaped my character. I’ve begun giving this book as a gift to people and calling Gucci Mane, “Our Lord and Savior.” For he is a one-of-a-kind dazzling and legendary embodiment of the power of positivity, focus, and hard work.
.
What the book provides is in its title, a guide to greatness, and Gucci presents his mentality, opinions, and life examples on almost every walk of life; Gucci’s aim as mentioned in his introduction was to make the book so powerful and put people on the righteous path to the point it can be compared to the Holy Bible. It’s divided into 9 parts: The Essentials, The Process, Accountability 101, Your People, Work Ethic, Opportunity, Success, and The Power of Love.
.
Throughout the book, you will realize that Gucci isn’t easy on anyone or himself. This man is all about absolute and continuous discipline and the journey of achieving the maximum. There’s so much in this book that I’ll only share the chapter titles that stood out to me the most because they’re pretty summative of what he’s talking about, I’ll leave each part as a comment below. His final words conclude the book as he acknowledges he’s blessed and grateful, reminds himself that if he keeps looking back then he’ll trip going forward, and to never quit on himself. Get this book and keep it in your drawer or bedstand, wherever you’d place holy grail.
The Essentials: stop underestimating yourself, it’s imperative that I change the narrative, time is valuable so spend it wisely, refocus and go harder, just keep improving, do what you got to do, and find something to be.
The Process: every day is a chance to get better, embrace every challenge, work in silence, and be resilient.
Accountability: everybody must be held accountable, self-discipline brings riches, and self-awareness is a valuable weapon.
Your People: Choose your friends carefully, avoid lazy and miserable people, haters are going to say you were cloned, women are brilliant, if you don’t know the old me then you don’t really know me, protect yourself at all times, never let being liked to get in the way of being respected, and lead by example.
Work Ethic: Nobody cares so work harder, don’t be lazy, I’m grinding when they sleep, do more to get more, and whatever it is just do it now.
Opportunity: Stay ready, I can make something outta nothin’, make today count, and turn burdens into blessings.
Success: Whatever you’re thinking always think bigger, I’m cut from a different cloth, prepare yourself to be successful, relax but don’t get too comfortable, I don’t do things for fun, learn to compartmentalize, and f*ck everbyody just stack your bread.
The Power of Love: I love my wife, I told my wife her presence is the present, and happy wife equals happy life.
